Personal Freedom

Posted in English, The Giver on May 24, 2010 by ringers

In English recently we have been talking about personal freedom and why is it really important to you. In Jonas’s community they have no personal freedom because they are assigned their role in the community for the rest of their lives and they are assigned a partner for the rest of their lives. I would love to choose my job one of my passions is cooking I love it because i can express myself, change things around, and it feels great to see the smiles and praise on the dish I just cooked for them. If you don’t like your job you have to deal with it and then you get no say in wether you change you cant, waking up in the morning and doing the same thing day upon day, month upon month, year upon year then you feel mentally tired, bored and fed up. Also choosing your own partner is crucial because you all have different personality’s and your partner might have some the same so they could help you through those hard times and other different times. If you have been chosen to get a really ugly girl she might be really horrible as well as the ugliness so you would want a fit (hot) girl ;) not just because of her looks also because she can relate more of you, care for you more and help you. If your parents give their advice you only have to listen you don’t have to what they say,  you do on certain things but a decision like marriage that is your own personal choice. Our personal freedom is crucial and without we would be in the same cardboard box for our whole live and we would never escape and live in a free society.

My Future

Posted in English, homework on May 12, 2010 by ringers

I would like my future to consist of many things but some main things I would like in my future are to be successful, to be happy with what I’m doing, get a medium profit even though money to me is not that important you will need a decent amount to buy a flat, get food, bills and etc. The job I would like is being a chef because it intrigues me everyday that you can put this with that and make a different recipe. My parents would like my future to be a bright one because they think that I’m intelligent enough and that I’m good at leading people and leading them through rough times and situations. But they also would say that it is not their choice they would just give advice and hope I would take it into account not tell me to do what they said. But they want what is best for me so i will always take their experienced  advice into account during and situation or decision.

The Giver

Posted in English, homework, The Giver on May 2, 2010 by ringers

Hi and welcome back to my blog in English we are reading a novel called The Giver it is about a teenage guy called Jonas who lives in a confined community and some of his community’s rules are that from 0 to 1 you live in a care centre and after 1 you are assigned a family. When you get to eight you can do voluntary hours at a work centre, at nine you can learn to ride a bike but you aren’t allowed to own a bike till you are twelve but at twelve you are also assigned your job for the rest of your life. At adulthood you have to take hormonal pills and you are assigned a parter but you are matched with somebody with a similar personality. At old age you are released but this is not a punishment it is to relive you from your duties and also to let you go to the next life. Release if your a baby and you are before the age of one you are released if you are not fully healthy. In a family you are allowed a mother, a farther, one boy and one girl. Jonas and his community you are allowed two chances then the third time that is when you are released and sent out of the community and you would have to manage for yourself. The thing is that it is human nature to make mistakes and you can’t make people not make mistakes so this is positive and negative.

Henry V11

Background Information

King Henry v11 was born on the 28 January 1457 and dies on the 21 April 1509. Henry was the King of England and Lord of Ireland from his seizing the crown on 22 August 1485 until his death on 21 April 1509, as the first monarch the Tudor dynasty. Henry was successful in restoring the power and stability of the English monarchy after the political upheavals of the Wars of the Roses. He founded a long-lasting dynasty and was succeeded in non-violent circumstances by his son, King Henry v111, after King Henry v11′s reign of 24 years.

Why Henry v11 was important in history

Henry v11 was important in history because he helped make the reformation of the church of England, HE won the Wars of  the Roses against King Richard 111 at the battle of Bosworth. He helped England through bad circumstances.

How Henry v11 was portrayed by power

Henry was portrayed by power because in all of his paintings he has sort of pale skin, straight posture and his rose has usually put in his hand to symbolize his control over his kingdom because of what happened at Bosworth. for example this picture below shows Henry with palish skin, strong posture, his gold chain and the red rose.

Esperanza’s experience of doing the chores

Posted in English, Esparanza, history on November 10, 2009 by ringers

before I started this work I felt like it was going to be no fun but then 1 out of 3 was great fun( making the  tortillas) my feelings have changed cause you have to feel sorry for all those people who do that 24/7. I learned that if you do it as a team its easy but I also felt i did quite well as a individual and I thought t was easy if you get you head to it. While I was doing the work I felt tired but having fun at the same time. I only really enjoyed making the tortillas cause I like to cook alot so it was easy and fun. I wasn’t really embarrassed cause its a job that has to be done and you can’t always have your maid or your butler do it for you.

Is school a privilege or a right

Posted in English, Esparanza, homework on November 8, 2009 by ringers

I think that school is a privilege because if it was a right everyone would have to go to school and that does not happen so school cant be a right. Some other reasons why school is a privilege cause you have to have some money and money is also a privilege so the two go together but you don’t have to have money to have an education.

However for example in the slums of India children as young as seven and eight may have to go out to work to earn money to support their family and to buy basics such as rice this means they are unable to attend school and develop their education. School is a privilege but its not the only way to get an education.

Carmens rich and poor!

“I am poor, but I am rich. I have my children, I have a garden with roses, and I have my faith and the memorires of those who have gone before me. What more is there?”. I think Carmen is trying to tell us the message that she may have a small amount of money but she is rich in life being at least she’s got a life were she has money has a family to love her. I think Carmen is also rich in life cause she gets to go some places even though she may not want to but she could really enjoy them.

Riches meet Rags

Posted in English on November 2, 2009 by ringers

In my lifetime I’ve met many poorer people than me for example my driver who takes me to school does not get a high salary, he came from India because there were more work places to be given and the salary was probably higher than in India he lives in a flat with five other people. An other example is these two cleaners who come to our house every friday they get very little salary, They came from Indonesia for work places but just cause they are poorer than me they are very nice people to be with they are friendly, kind, have a good sense of humor, and they can speak very good english. This makes me feel upset for the poorer people cause maybe this is what their life wasn’t meant to be like so me and my dad give them a little bit of extra cash and we feed them when they come.

“JUST CAUSE THEY ARE POORER I DONT THINK THAT THEY ARE ANY DIFFERENT TO US RICHER PEOPLE, WHAT DO YOU THINK?”

If my house burnt down tomorrow the very important things i would take and things that symbolize me would be my photo album which has my friends in the UK  some great memos of my school mates are when we went to the golbe thetre domre photos of my house party and some great jokes me and my friends made up i will allways remember the jokes and my friends they were great friends.,

Photos of my dog Fudge cause she is the best pet ive had ever thats why they special to me because i had so many great memos and i wanted a album to cover those things and ive also got photos of my old house which i’ve lived in for nine years.

I would try and take some money if i had any left for food and water, a couple of pairs of shorts and t-shirts and one pair of trousers. This would make me upset because i would not be able to take all of my stuff but life has to go on so i’d have to get on with it and try to forget about it.
